Position Summary & Purpose:      

The Cashier – Kidron will be one of the points of contact for all customers entering and exiting the Lehman’s Kidron Store location.  The Cashier – Kidron will operate a Point of Sale (POS) computer to total customer purchases, accept payments, make change, process credit/debit card transactions, validate checks, and bag purchases in a friendly and efficient manner.  The Cashier – Kidron will assist Kidron team members in creating a memorable visitor experience by engaging the visitor in a positive and helpful manner, offering accurate and relevant information in a manner focused on providing exceptional customer service and creating an outstanding first impression. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Cashier
    • Greet customers entering the establishment
    • Receive payment by cash, check, credit/debit card, vouchers or automatic debits
    • Issue receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers
    • Assist customers by providing information and resolving any concerns about product, location, local attractions, etc.
    • Establish and/or identify:
      • Prices of goods
      • Local services
      • Local attractions
    • Tabulate customer purchases using:
      • Calculator
      • POS computer
      • Cash register
      • Optical price scanner(s)
    • Answer customer questions regarding product, services, attractions, etc. and provide information on procedures and/or purchase/return policies
    • Process merchandise returns and exchanges
    • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas
    • Complete general cleaning duties such as, but not limited to, sweeping/mopping floors/spills, emptying trash cans, dusting, etc.
    • Stock shelves and ensure items are marked with prices
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education

  • Minimum of an Eighth (8th) Grade education

Experience

  • Minimum experience required for this position is 0 to 6 months in a customer service, retail and or customer centered environment

Language

  • English – must be able to communicate and understand the English language utilizing any and all forms of communication (written, verbal, visual, etc.)
  • Dutch (Pennsylvania Dutch) – not a necessary job requirement, but helpful in dealing with Amish visitors/customers

Scheduling

  • Must be willing and able to work assigned shift/schedule/provisory period as defined by supervision based on staffing needs
  • Must be able to provide reliable transportation for self to and from assigned worksite(s). Transportation can include but is not limited to self-transport, car-pooling, hired drivers, horse & buggy, bicycle, etc.  Neither Lehman’s nor Lehman’s supervision is responsible for securing or providing reliable transportation for this position.
  • Dependability - must be willing and able to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards; must be reliable, responsible and fulfill all employment obligations
