The Apparel Lead - Kidron will be one of the points of contact for all customers in need of Apparel items sold or maintained by Lehman’s.    The Apparel Lead - Kidron will be responsible for selling Lehman’s merchandise to the consumer, teaching the customer how to use the Lehman’s product; consistently deliver a high degree of customer service in a professional and positive manner and will be responsible for attaining and maintain a standard of excellence regarding the department’s appearance (merchandising, blocking, stocking and cleanliness). The Apparel Lead - Kidron will also be responsible creating a memorable visitor experience by engaging the visitor in a positive and helpful manner in and outside of the store or customer home (via telephone), offering accurate and relevant information in a manner focused on providing exceptional customer service and creating an outstanding first impression. 


Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Safety 
  • Responsible for understanding and demonstrating accepted safety standards used by Lehman’s.  
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe shopping experience for customers and employees while in the Apparel Department. 
  • Customer Service 
  • Ensuring the Apparel Department meets key measurements for customer service (decreased length of wait, greeting all customers, etc.) 
  • Intervene and handle challenging customers either independently or with the assistance of management. 
  • Ensuring that the Apparel Department maintains the established goal of the minimum score from Net Promoter of “We recommend this store to our friends.” 
  • Branding 
  • Continuous communication with the Merchandising Department to ensure brands sold and/or serviced through the Apparel Department meet brand expectations. 
  • Continuous communication with Store Manager and Marketing to coordinate departmental marketing and event coordination 
  • Operations 
  • Responsible for managing department gross revenue to meet and/or exceed sales targets. 
  • Active, direct and indirect communication with all aspects of team including but not limited to Stockers and VS Staff members, store management and other departmental managers/category managers, as well as other customers and business associates on and off site both actual and perceived. 
  • Responsible for following up on empty hooks and empty shelf spaces, communicating Outs to the buyers and/or store manager.  
  • Human Resources 
  • Work closely with store management team to ensure departmental staffing needs are met with regards to maintaining customer service and meeting established percentage of sales for payroll targets 
  • Understand and follow all Lehman’s policies and procedures. 
  • Product Management 
  • Work closely with the Merchandising team to establish and secure new vendors and products; request product samples, send new product information to the Merchandising team. 
  • Contributes to the selection of products to be sold in the Apparel Department. 
  • Ensures that displays are maintained and clean at all times. 
  • Works with the Pantry/Personal Care/Cleaning Department to complete seasonal change outs and price changes in line with expectations of Merchandising. 
  • Recommend retail pricing to Merchandising team based on: 
  • Competitor’s pricing 
  • Lehman’s variable pricing strategy 
  • Price points 
  • Identification of discount/close-out merchandise 
  • Set minimum/maximum quantity and forecasts on SKUs in department. 
  • Instruct customers on the appropriate use and care of product(s) purchased. 
  • Driving/Vehicle  
  • Possess and maintain an excellent Motor Vehicle Driving Record in order to attend product shows and/or other retail locations for ideas and/or samples. 
  • Physical Responsibilities 
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) Ability to work safely in varying environmental conditions. 
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders.                                      
  • Other duties as assigned. 




  • Minimum of an Eighth (8th) Grade education  
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred 


  • Prior experience with supervision is desirable but not required to apply. 
  • Knowledgeable about Lehman’s Products and the simple lifestyle that Lehman’s promotes.  

Travel – must be willing and able to travel as needed for work related purposes, such as but not limited to: 

  • Trade Shows 
  • Extended work hours during peak business periods 


  • Driving/Delivery – must currently possess and must maintain a valid insurance and an Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles approved driving license.

  • Obtain within the first year of employment a Safe Food Handling Level 2 certification

  • Motor Skills -  the ability to use fine and gross motor skills to complete decorating projects and assisting visitors in the store (example: using fingers to pick up string or using hands, legs and back to lift a package from the floor) 
  • Dexterity – skill of being able to  use hands, feet, eyes, body in coordination with each other to complete a given project or task 
  • Safety – the ability to observe gauges, dials, or other indicators, whether analog or digital, to make sure appliance is working properly 
  • Mental skills which include but are not limited to:

  • English – must be able to communicate and understand the English language utilizing any and all forms of communication (written, verbal, visual, etc.) 
  • Dutch (Pennsylvania Dutch) – not a necessary job requirement, but helpful in dealing with Amish visitors/customers 


  • Must be willing and able to work assigned shift/schedule/provisory period as defined by supervision based on staffing needs 
  • Must be able to provide reliable transportation for self to and from assigned worksite(s). Transportation can include but is not limited to self-transport, car-pooling, hired drivers, horse & buggy, bicycle, etc.  Neither Lehman’s nor Lehman’s supervision is responsible for securing or providing reliable transportation for this position. 
  • Dependability - must be willing and able to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards; must be reliable, responsible and fulfill all employment obligations 


Physical Requirements: 

The following physical requirements will be conditions in which the Apparel Lead - Kidron may find themselves during a normal workday/week/month.  These physical requirements can be considered continuous (90-100%), frequent (40-89%), occasional (11-39%) or rare (less than 1-10%) and can be any combination thereof during a work assignment/project. 


Stationary Position 


Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time while interacting with visitors or working on projects 

Move, Transverse 


Ability to move about inside and outside of the store. Ability to maneuver and transverse over varying heights and mediums of walkways, paths, work areas, etc.   

Ascend, Descend, Work atop 


Ability to ascend/descend ladder and stairs to perform essential and occasional job duties 



Ability to sit stationary for periods of time and be on your feet extended periods of time  

Transport, Install, Position 


Ability to transport items from one location to another, with or without mechanical or physical assistance; ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds alone from the floor to a height of 3-4 feet; ability to move/lift items from waist height to overhead; ability to move/lift items from overhead to waist height or floor position 


Working Conditions:  


The Apparel Lead - Kidron will be required to perform duties in various working conditions.  Varied conditions can be up to and include: 

  • Environmental Exposures – subject to varying external temperatures and/or weather conditions; movement from one extreme to the other 
  • Atmospheric Exposures – subject to varying atmospheric irritants such as dust, fumes, vapors, mists, etc. that could require additional ventilation and/or repeated exposure 
  • Noise Exposure – subject varying degrees of noise (white, alarms, music, murmured conversation, etc.) during the majority of the work day which could or could not require protective hearing equipment 
  • Injury Exposure – subject to workplace hazards that could cause temporary or permanent injury such as knifes, saws, paints, sealants, fumes, unleveled work surfaces, etc. 
  • Consumer Injury Exposure – subject to workplace hazards that could cause temporary or permanent injury such as being bumped by shopping carts, baskets, unaware consumers, etc. while working on the sales floor 


Working Relationships: 

In addition to visitors and vendors to the Kidron store, the Apparel Lead - Kidron will be required to establish and maintain an excellent rapport with the following internal Lehman’s departments:
